Job Description

The HSE Officer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment within the manufacturing facility. This role involves implementing HSE policies, conducting safety audits, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and fostering a culture of safety among all employees. The HSE Officer works closely with all levels of staff to identify potential hazards and implement solutions to mitigate risks.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Implementation:

Assist in the development and implementation of HSE policies and procedures.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the manufacturing facility to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Monitor the use of safety equipment and ensure it is properly maintained and accessible to all employees.
Risk Assessment:

Perform risk assessments on various processes, machinery, and equipment to identify potential hazards.
Recommend and implement control measures to reduce identified risks.
Training and Awareness:

Assist in developing and delivering HSE training programs for employees, including induction training for new hires, safety awareness campaigns, and specific job-related training.
Promote a culture of safety by communicating HSE standards and expectations to all employees.
Incident Reporting and Investigation:

Record and report any incidents, accidents, or near-misses in the workplace.
Participate in incident investigations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate records for regulatory compliance.
Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure that the manufacturing facility complies with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Keep up-to-date with changes in HSE legislation and standards and ensure the company remains compliant.
Assist in the preparation and submission of required reports to regulatory bodies.
Environmental Management:

Monitor environmental impact activities such as waste disposal, emissions, and resource usage within the facility.
Support initiatives to reduce the environmental footprint of manufacturing operations.
Emergency Preparedness:

Assist in the development and maintenance of emergency response plans.
Coordinate and participate in regular emergency drills to ensure readiness for actual emergencies.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Certification in HSE management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) is preferred.
2-3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of local and national HSE regulations.
Ability to conduct risk assessments and safety inspections.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HSE management software.
