About This Role

To conduct electrical maintenance, deployment, troubleshooting, replacement, repair, and testing of electrical equipment and systems on drills (Sandvik Pantera Drills Dpi 1500) and support equipment, according to electrical codes, OEM specifications and safety standards to ensure equipment availability and optimal mining operations and production.

In This Role You Will

Electrical Maintenance

Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance routines and inspections, generate work orders, and attend to maintenance planning schedule.
Equipment Functioning: Perform routine maintenance on all electrical equipment, attend to equipment breakdowns, and maintain sufficient spare availability.
Quality Targets: Ensure daily and rotational quality targets are achieved, including FSAPM, MTBF, and MTTR.

Trouble Shooting

Carry out daily inspections and record all findings.
Check all malfunctioned electrical systems and conduct root cause analysis in order to diagnose whether to repair or replace.
Analyse specified problems and issues to find the best technical solutions within OEM specifications and in accordance with local codes.
Strive to reduce downtime and minimize costs.

Reporting

Maintain records of maintenance and repair work.
Produce daily reports indicating the jobs for the day and submit the report to the Supervisor.

Health, Safety and Environment

Deliver own prescribed outcomes and / or provide support services, by applying Newmont’s Health, Safety and Environment systems, policies and protocols.
Inspect the equipment to check and identify any electrical and basic mechanical risks.
Attend all safety meetings.

Your Training, Skills And Experience Checklist

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations).

Electrical Engineering / Technician certificate or equivalent.
Electrical Trade training, apprenticeship.
MINCOM certified as Inspection Engineer has an advantage.

Additional Knowledge.

Advanced knowledge of mechanical/electrical maintenance principles and industry standards.
Advanced knowledge and experience of maintaining Drills (Sandvik Pantera Drills Dpi 1500) and support equipment.
Knowledge of the work management process.
Knowledge of planning and scheduling.
Knowledge of CMMS/ERP.

Experience.

Minimum of 3 years’ electrical maintenance experience in a mining equipment maintenance environment, preferably repairing and maintaining Sandvik Pantera Drills Dpi 1500 drills and support equipment.

Technical Skills.

Communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to identify problems and to report by using technical names of equipment parts.
Ability to develop / maintain electrical systems.
Ability to correctly read power meters and record the readings accurately.
Ability to manage the quality of operations in accordance with the quality standards of the organization and international best practice.
