Drive strategy

Time split: 40%

Outputs to deliver this accountability:

Help drive the company’s solution-based business model and take their designs to the next level
Design, develop, and test industry-leading solutions
Build scalable solutions that will make technology work for businesses and individuals
Develop a deep understanding of products, customers, goals, organization, and business strategies
Evaluate systems, processes, and identify improvement needs
Secure and manage engineering service providers, inspectors, and other technical resources that may come in handy to develop the project
Meet quality standards while maintaining a working knowledge of relevant technologies and best practices
Manage the execution and timely completion of engineering projects
Analyze the scope and determine project specifications, establish testing methods for product investigations, test programs, examine samples, and prepare reports
Formulate plans with detailed calculations, drawings, diagrams, project specifications, and budget estimates

Manage risk and Compliance

Time split: 15%

Outputs to deliver this accountability:

Together with Risk and Compliance team, review the key risk and compliance challenges identified in the area and the key areas of concern/surveillance.
Together with the Risk and Compliance team implement measures to address notable risks and regulatory challenges.
Implement measures to review the risk and compliance performance of the unit/function on a regular basis and take corrective action.
Complete all relevant Management Assurance or Risk reports and attestations as required.
Ensure that processes, control requirements and risk management frameworks that impact the area are documented and understood by all members of the team.
Work with Absa Internal Audit and Management Assurance during the scoping of audits to ensure fair coverage.

Drive Service

Time split: 25%

Outputs to deliver this accountability:

Increase revenue potential for the business by effectively managing service levels of critical applications
Minimize time-to-resolution(TTR) of business service disruptions through fast real-time root cause analysis of solutions deployed.
Minimize cost of IT infrastructure through optimizing delivery and performance of business services.
Implement actions resulting from formalised service reviews (including questionnaires, production reporting, loss event reporting, etc).
Continuously monitor service levels and implement tactical measures to improve customer satisfaction.
Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships within the Bank to understand the business needs and changes in customer needs.
Participate in Bank wide forums and governance structures as required or directed.
Work of the Head of Solutions to communicate and track the achievement of Service levels (documented in Service Level Agreements) on an on-going basis and take corrective action as required on all solutions deployed.
Manage the operational teams to ensure they deliver reliable services.

Manage resources

Time split: 20%

Outputs to deliver this accountability:

Adhere to sound financial and governance controls to support sound resource management and financial control within the unit.
Ensure adherence to all required compliance requirements, financial policies and supply chain policies within the bank.

Knowledge & Skills

Strong technical understanding of SOA (Service Oriented Architecture)
Expert Level in UML ,DevOps and Agile development
Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
Solid understanding of web application architecture

Qualification

Bachelors and Computer Science or related field (System Engineer, IS Engineer, Information Systems Engineer, IT Engineer, Network Systems Engineer)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the Telco/Banking industry
Understanding of Cloud technology
Minimum 2 years hands on experience in development
