Job Description
The Data Analyst position at Barry Callebaut is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and analytical individual to support the data collection, analysis, and reporting efforts of our sustainability initiatives. As a Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in designing data collection tools, conducting rigorous data analysis, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and providing support for impact learnings. You will collaborate with various teams and stakeholders to ensure accurate and insightful data analysis that informs decision-making and drives sustainability efforts. This position offers the chance to contribute to meaningful projects and gain valuable experience in data analysis and sustainability within a global cocoa and chocolate manufacturing company. The Data Analyst Assistant will based in Kumasi and work closely with the sustainability team and various stakeholders to ensure accurate and insightful data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in designing data collection tools:
Collaborate with the team to develop data collection tools and surveys.
Contribute to the design and implementation of data collection protocols.
Provide support on impact learnings:
Assist in conducting impact assessments and learning studies.
Support the analysis of data to derive meaningful insights and recommendations.
Rigorous analysis of data and share insights:
Perform thorough data analysis using statistical techniques and software.
Share key insights and findings with stakeholders through reports and presentations.
Tracking and analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) data:
Collaborate with teams to define and track KPIs related to sustainability initiatives.
Analyze KPI data to monitor progress, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
Participate in training of surveyors for data collection and mapping:
Support the training of surveyors on data collection techniques and mapping methodologies.
Ensure the use of appropriate tools and protocols for accurate data collection.
Implementation of tools for reporting and analyzing KPIs:
Contribute to the development and implementation of tools to facilitate KPI reporting and analysis.
Ensure data accuracy and integrity in the reporting systems.
Data extraction for the overall sustainability team:
Extract and compile relevant data from various sources for the sustainability team’s analysis.
Assist in preparing data sets for specific projects or initiatives.
Creation of dashboards for sustainability KPI tracking:
Develop and maintain interactive dashboards to visualize and track sustainability KPIs.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective dashboard reporting.
Serve as field data validators:
Monitor and validate the quality of data submitted by cooperatives and coaches.
Provide feedback and guidance to improve data accuracy and completeness.
Responsible for collecting ad hoc data for impact assessments and learning studies:
Coordinate the collection of data for ad hoc projects, impact assessments, and learning studies.
Ensure compliance with data collection protocols and project requirements.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
Proficiency in data analysis techniques, including statistical analysis, data modeling, data visualization, and data mining. Experience using statistical software packages (R, Python, SAS, etc) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is highly desirable.
Solid programming skills in languages commonly used in data analysis, such as Python or R. Knowledge of SQL for data querying and manipulation is also valuable.
Familiar with data management principles, including data cleaning, data integration, and data quality assurance.
Strong quantitative skills, including a solid understanding of mathematical and statistical concepts, and the ability to apply them to real-world data analysis problems.
Proficiency in creating clear and visually appealing data visualizations using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or ggplot in R.
Database Knowledge: Familiarity with relational databases and data querying using SQL.
Experienced with analytical tools such as Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation functions.
Strong problem-solving abilities with the capability to break down complex problems, identify patterns, and develop innovative solutions.
Critical thinking skills to evaluate and interpret data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong presentation skills to effectively communicate data-driven insights.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, engaging with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and contributing to a positive and inclusive work culture
Willing to occasionally travel to project sites for data collection and validation purposes
