Purpose of the role:

As the Head of Ocean Freight Operations, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing the operational and commercial aspects of the business. Your role revolves around optimizing operations, driving profitability, and ensuring operational excellence in line with the country’s business strategy.

Role responsibilities:

Develop and implement an effective Ocean Freight Operations/Commercial Strategy aligned with the country’s business objectives and corporate guidelines.
Lead the planning and execution of ocean freight plans, measures, and budgets to enhance operational efficiency, drive profitability, and facilitate volume growth and service expansion.
Manage large-scale country projects and initiatives to deliver fast, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective ocean freight solutions.
Oversee end-to-end capacity management, optimize network procurement, and capitalize on consolidation opportunities for improved operational performance.
Make critical decisions regarding operational sites, capacity procurement, technical support, and local purchasing while adhering to corporate policies.
Drive strategic focus on customs business and product development, including overseeing preferred carrier usage and incentive deals.
Conduct market profiling, customer, and competitor research to identify opportunities and challenges, informing pricing strategies and product development.
Collaborate with sales teams to support key customer interactions, provide pricing guidance, and assist in bids and customer presentations.
Ensure compliance with standards, procedures, and specifications while benchmarking and implementing best practices in Ocean Freight Operations at the country level.
Manage transport orders, bookings, import/export documentation, supplier performance, and customer issue resolution.
Foster strong cross-functional relationships within DHL, influencing stakeholders and driving cooperation to deliver integrated solutions.

What makes you successful in this role?

8+ years of progressive experience in operations, P&L management, and commercial strategy.
Exhibiting exceptional resilience, adept stakeholder management, and strong leadership skills.
Master’s degree in a relevant field.
