Responsibilities

Supervise edited documents (by freelancers) from a broad range of scientific manuscripts (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, etc.) to meet the rigorous standards of international peer-reviewed journals.
Ensure clarity and idiomatic expression in edited content, allowing authors to convey their research effectively.
Utilize comments to clarify important edits while preserving the original intent and meaning of the author’s work.
Maintain subject-specific conventions in each editing assignment.
Perform quality assurance checks on edited manuscripts to ensure that they meet the standards of international publications.
Manage deadlines and ensure high-quality standard manuscripts.
Manage the day-to-day editorial workflow and provide support to our freelancers and fellow in-house staff.
Ensure appropriate manuscript formats that conform to academic conventions in terms of citation style, layout, section headings, and tense usage.
Ensure the preservation of author’s intended meaning, even in manuscripts where the content requires extensive revision.

Qualifications

A Master’s degree in English is preferred. A first-class bachelor’s degree in English is acceptable. Candidates with a degree in a STEM-related field can also apply.
Certification or practical experience in academic editing, journal article writing, scientific communication, publishing, or related fields.
Knowledge of research writing styles (such as APA) and conventions followed in academic writing.
An average editing/proofreading speed of 1,000-1,500 words per hour.

Experiences

Prior academic or professional proof reading or editing experience.
Research experience at the bachelor’s or master’s level (studies conducted, papers written/published, papers reviewed, etc.)
Experience in editing ESL (English as a second language) manuscripts.
Excellent writing skills, exceptional ability to read, and a scrupulous attention to detail.
Figure formatting experience for academic journals is a plus.
