Job Summary:

The Internal Auditor is responsible for providing independent and objective assurance to the Board of Directors and management on the effectiveness of the organization’s risk management, control, and governance processes. The Internal Auditor will also identify and assess risks to the organization’s operations, financial reporting, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Internal Auditor’s primary role will be to assess the effectiveness of the company’s internal controls, risk management, and governance processes. Ensuring that the company is complying with all applicable laws and regulations and that all financial information is accurate and reliable. They will also work with external auditors to ensure that all audit requirements are met and stay up-to-date with relevant regulations and industry best practices in internal audit and risk management.

Responsibilities

Conducting internal audits of the company’s financial and operational processes, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements
Performing risk assessments to identify areas of potential exposure and developing strategies to mitigate them
Evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of the company’s internal control systems and recommending control improvements
Reviewing financial statements and preparing reports highlighting areas that need attention or improvement.
Conducting investigations as necessary to ensure that any irregularities are identified, investigated, and reported appropriately
Providing regular updates and recommendations to senior management on the status of internal audit activities, key findings, and areas needing improvement
Providing support in the development of policies and procedures that address potential risks and mitigate them
Working with external auditors to ensure that all audit requirements are met.
Keeping abreast of relevant regulations and industry best practices in internal audit, risk management, and corporate governance

Requirements And Skills

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, a master’s is an added advantage.
Professional certifications such as CISA, CIA, ACCA, ICAG or CPA are a must.
At least 4-6 years of experience in internal audit or risk management, preferably in the financial technology industry.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge and understanding of risk management and control management
Understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for presenting findings and recommendations to senior management
Attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing financial and operational processes. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices in internal audit and risk management.
Knowledge of technology and data analytics for conducting efficient and effective audits.
Ability to think strategically and assess the big picture while also paying attention to the details.
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders.
