About The Role
The Employee Relations Advisor will join the Human Resources team and report to the Human Resource Manager. In this role, you’ll handle various employee relations issues like disputes, performance management, misconduct, and union matters. You’ll be a trusted advisor, helping to create a positive, inclusive workplace by supporting strategies and policies that prioritize well-being. Your focus will be on ensuring that decisions and actions benefit employees and the organization, while maintaining compliance and best practices.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
Providing advice and support to managers and employees on a range of ER/IR issues, including disciplinary actions, grievances, workplace conflict, and performance management.
Lead thorough and unbiased investigations into employee relations matters, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to company policies.
Act as the primary point of contact for employees regarding workplace issues, ensuring all concerns are handled fairly and in accordance with legislation.
Keep up-to-date with changes in employment law and best practices, ensuring the company’s policies and procedures are current and legally compliant.
Review, develop, and implement employee policies to ensure compliance with employment legislation.
Provide coaching and support to managers in handling difficult conversations and improving team dynamics.
What We’re Looking For
Required: Degree qualifications in Business, Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Employment Law or relevant discipline and/or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Desirable: Relevant industrial relations skills and knowledge gained from working in a range of industries with some exposure to Botswana Government regulation.
Minimum 5 years’ experience within Workplace, Industrial, Employee Relations or Human Resources, supporting Blue Collar environments.
Managing relationships with unions & ensuring that the Company’s treatment of employees is consistent with its core business values and objectives.
Proven ability to provide credible advice to a diverse range of stakeholders.
