ROLE OVERVIEW: Are you a hands-on technologist with a flair for turning software innovations into real-world impact? Join WASHKING, a pioneering social enterprise on a mission to revolutionize sanitation delivery in low-income and underserved areas. As an Integrated Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in integrating advanced technologies such as smart locks, mobile apps, and system programming into our sanitation systems. Your expertise in software development and system integration will enhance user experiences and streamline operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Software Development and Integration
• Develop software, applications, and programming modules for seamless integration into toilet systems, focusing on smart locks, sensors, mobile apps, and system functionality.
• Translate concepts into detailed plans and specifications.

Systems Functionality and Performance
• Ensure the proper functioning and optimal performance of integrated software and applications, addressing challenges and resolving issues proactively.
• Conduct testing and debugging to identify and rectify software-related issues.

On-Site Project Supervision
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to supervise on-site toilet building projects, ensuring alignment with timelines, specifications, and quality standards.
• Conduct regular site visits to assess project status, identify concerns, and manage resources effectively.

Innovation and Research
• Lead research and innovation efforts related to integrated smart locks, mobile apps, and system programming.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends to incorporate relevant advancements.

Training and Knowledge Sharing
• Organize and deliver training programs to build team capacity in integrated technologies.
• Provide guidance and technical expertise to team members on software-related matters.

Additional Responsibilities
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be required to contribute to the success of the organization.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Relevant academic background in computer science, software engineering, or related field is valued, but we also recognize the importance of hands-on expertise.
• Relevant certifications in computer science, software engineering, or related fields are a plus, but your practical experience is equally valuable.
• Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in software development, programming, and software implementation, with a track record of successful project delivery.
• Proficiency in relevant programming languages and software development methodologies (e.g., Python, C/C++, Java, MATLAB and IoT Platforms like Arduino and Raspberry Pi, or equivalent).

• Strong project management skills, including progress tracking and compliance enforcement.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and adaptability in dynamic environments.
• Effective communication, with the ability to work collaboratively.
• Willingness to conduct regular site visits and travel as required.
• Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in software development and system integration.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIS):

Here are some key performance indicators (KPIs) for the role against which we will measure your performance.

• Integration Efficiency Rate: Achieve a 90% success rate in integrating new software/modules within a specified timeline. Target a 20% quarterly reduction in the time taken from conceptualizing to successful implementation.

• System Reliability Index: Maintain a monthly system uptime of 99%, with an error rate below 0.5% and a response time of fewer than 500 milliseconds.
• Innovation Adoption Score: Implement at least two (2) new technological advancements related to smart locks, mobile apps, or system programming within the sanitation systems annually.
• Team Capacity Enhancement: Conduct quarterly training programs and assess a 15% increase in team members’ proficiency in integrated technologies annually.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Maintain a quarterly average cross-functional collaboration score of 8 or higher on a scale of 1 to 10.

WHAT WE OFFER: A gross salary ranging from GHS 2,500 to GHS 3,000, based on experience. The role will start off on a contract basis, with the ability to extend to a full-time role, based on performance, measured against set KPIs.
